Moody Homers, Generals Toss Combined No-Hitter in RRAC Opening Round in 8-0 Win Over XULA

PINEVILLE, LA – The two-seeded Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball team run-ruled seven-seeded Xavier (La.) in the Opening Round of the 2025 Red River Athletic Conference Softball Championship.

"It's an awesome day to get a win," said LSUA Head Coach Trent Partridge. "This sets you up for the next day and you get another one game day if you win. Getting this first win was awfully big."

The Generals' (44-5) pitching staff combined for a no-hitter between Haley Primrose (23-4) and Kirsten Martinez. Primrose tossed 3.1 innings and struck out four. Martinez finished the last 1.2 innings and registered one strike out.

LSUA managed just four hits off XULA's (15-22) staff. All four hits drove in runs. A second inning double from Jillian Howell brought around Kaetlyn Dunbar, after Julia Kwakernaak scored on a wild pitch, for a 2-0 lead.

The Generals tallied four runs in the second, but they managed just the one hit through four innings.

A solo home run from Kilee Moody jumpstarted the Purple and Gold's offense in the fifth inning.

"I knew my team was starting to get a little complacent and I didn't know how to fire them up other than to go out there and hit the ball like I know I could and try to help the team in any way possible," Moody said.

Madi Baker then drew a walk and was doubled home by Kwakernak. A single from Primrose scored Kwakernaak. Primrose advanced to third on an error and was driven in on a sacrifice fly by Dunbar.

LSUA plays the winner of Louisiana Christian and Texas A&M-Texarkana on Friday, May 2, at noon from Wildcat Park.
