(RV) Evangels Best Generals, 4-1

OKLAHOMA CITY – Ariana Lowenstein scored her second goal of the season but the Louisiana State University of Alexandria fell to (RV) Mid-America Christian University, 4-1.

The Generals (1-5-0) finished with 16 shots to the Evangels (5-1-0) 25. LSUA put six shots on goal, while MACU managed 15.

"Credit to MACU," LSUA Head Coach Mark Hammond said. "They were the far better side. We have to look at ourselves and own that our performance level was not good enough. We cannot expect to get results if we only compete in 10-minute spells throughout a 90-minute game. The only people that can turn this around are us, so we need to get back to the training pitch and do the work."

MACU's Maria Scopina opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with her third goal of the season. A headed effort from Scopina, off a corner from Liv Houlston, gave the Evangels a 1-0 lead.

Lowenstein's equalizer came just under two minutes later. She beat the keeper off a pass from Sara Escribano García-Miguel.

Alyssa Gutierrez connected with Gladis Avalos in the 43rd minute to take a 2-1 lead into halftime. Avalos added a second goal in the 56th minute, extending the Evangels' lead to 3-1. Their final goal came of the foot of Brae Baker in the 73rd minute.

Meike van Straten made 11 saves in goal for the Generals. She made five stops in the first half and six in the second.

LSUA travels to Lamar University for an exhibition on Sunday, September 14, for a 5:00 PM kickoff.
