Generals Fall in Second Half Surge From OLLU. 67-65

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A second half comeback from Our Lady of the Lake University downed the Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team, 67-65.

"A lack thereof of execution and toughness in the second half," LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson said. "My shoulders are big; I'll take the blame for that. One team shot 37 free throws and the other 19, toughness!"

Jordan Decuir led the Generals (8-6, 5-3) in scoring, turning in 20 points and a 7-for-9 mark from the field. He went 3-for-5 from long range and was a perfect 3-for-3 at the charity stripe. EJ McQuillan recorded 10 points.

LSUA controlled the first half, reaching a 10-point advantage just eight minutes into the game. With 2:09 left in the half.

The Generals ended the first half on a 14-1 run to take a 38-18 lead into the break.

A three from Decuir early in the second gave the Generals their largest lead of the game, 46-23. The Saints (8-6, 6-2 RRAC) came alive and put together a 22-11 run. They continued to chip away at LSUA's lead, finally going ahead with 6:40 left, 53-52.

LSUA responded by re-extending their lead to six, 61-55, thanks to nine consecutive points from TJ James.

With just 1:20 left in the contest, a layup from Barack Holland levelled the score at 63-63. Norman Beckford knocked down two free throws, putting the Generals ahead 65-63.

A layup from Jaydin Bishop-Morris with 31 seconds left tied the game again and a jumper from Mike Aiken with four seconds left put OLLU ahead for the victory. OLLU outscored LSUA 49-27 in the second half.

The Generals take on Texas A&M-San Antonio on Saturday, January 10, at 3:00 PM.
