Men's Basketball Takes Down Southwest (N.M.) 86-64 in Regular Season Finale

HOBBS, NM – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team closed the regular season with an 86-64 win over the University of the Southwest (N.M.).
 
"A good team win to cap off the regular season," LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson said. "We challenged our guys and they accepted the challenge!"
 
The Generals finish the season with a 21-7 overall record and an 18-4 mark in Red River Athletic Conference play. They secured the two-seed heading into the RRAC Championship.
 
EJ McQuillan (21), PD McCraney (12), and Jordan Decuir (10) all scored in double digits for LSUA. Johnny DeWalt recorded a team-high nine rebounds. LSUA recorded 44 points in the paint, 20 points off turnovers, and the bench recorded 41 points.
 
Kevin Boone led the Mustangs (5-23, 2-30 RRAC) with 20 points. EJay Scroggins and Jalen Williams both recorded 12.
 
After 10 minutes of even play, a three-point play from Jordan Decuir swung momentum in the Generals' favor and opened a run to a 13-point lead, 42-29. Decuir's three-point play flipped the lead to LSUA, 21-20, eliminating the Mustangs' lea for the final time. LSUA went into the locker room at halftime with a 46-31 lead.
 
LSUA's lead reached 20 for the first time seven minutes into the second half. A three from McCraney made it 58-38 in the Generals' favor.
 
They reached their largest lead of the game on a three from McQuillan, a 27-point differential, with 4:05 left in regulation.
 
DeWalt, Javon Smith, and Talib Ferrette added points in the final three minutes to seal the 86-64 victory.
 
The Generals will host the RRAC Championship Quarterfinal on Wednesday, February 25, at 6:30 PM.
