Baseball Drops Series Opener to No. 1 LSU Shreveport

ALEXANDRIA, LA - The Louisiana State University of Alexandria baseball team fell in their series opener to No. 1 LSU Shreveport, 13-3.

LSUS (16-2, 4-0 RRAC) struck first in the opening inning, scoring two runs to take an early lead. The Pilots added to the advantage in the second inning, plating five runs to extend the lead to 7–0, four coming on one swing of the bat – a grand slam from Makana Olaso.

The Generals (14-6, 3-1 RRAC) were able to get on the board in the fifth inning with a Lane Patin bases-clearing triple to right, bringing in Colin Ardoin, Lane Kratzer, and Dalton Wilson.
In the sixth, Carlos Vega singled to left field allowing Landon Hunt and Spencer Sullivan to get on the board for the Pilots.

Keeping the momentum going in the seventh, Carlos Sanchez tripled to right center which brought Rodrigo Bravo in for LSUS. They added three more runs in the eighth inning on a pair of singles and a fielding error to extend the lead and close out the scoring.

David Hankins (5-1) gets the win on the mound, facing 19 batters and striking out four. He threw 4.1 perfect innings until Dalton Wilson broke up the perfecto with a bunt single down the third base line.
Michael Sutton (3-2) took the loss for the Generals allowing just two earned runs over 4.2 innings pitched. He allowed six hits and struck out three.

The Generals close the series with a doubleheader tomorrow, February 28, starting at noon.
