Men's Basketball Stampedes Past Texas College, 94-61

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball rolled to a 94-61 victory over Texas College in Red River Athletic Conference play.
 
PD McCraney led the Generals (16-7, 13-4 RRAC) with 21 points. He knocked down six shots from long range. Jordan Decuir (18) and EJ McQuillan (15) also finished in double digits. TJ James led LSUA with 10 rebounds and went 4-for-6 from the field. LSUA's bench recorded 49 points and the Generals scored 32 points in the paint.
 
"We'll hit the negative first," LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson said. "We need to be better at the free throw line. We left some layups out there that we have to be better at. We had some possessions defensively that we have to be better at. Overall, really good win. We put a challenge on these guys prior to the game and they really accepted it and took it on. We definitely went 1-0 today."
 
Shaysten Cornish led the Steers (3-18, 2-14 RRAC) with 15 points. Wayne Green (13) and Marcus Jones (11) also finished with 10 or more points.
 
LSUA led for a total of 35:37 or 89-percent of the contest. Texas College led for just 2:50.
 
After the Generals took the initial lead, the Steers briefly went ahead. Their last lead came with 12:50 left in the first half, 14-13. A three-point play from Talib Ferrette in the paint flipped the score in favor of LSUA. Jayce Tolivar and McCraney followed with a pair of threes for a 22-18 lead.
 
The Generals hit their first double-digit lead with a trey from McCraney, 27-16. McCraney's three opened up a 10-0 run for LSUA.
 
Johnny DeWalt gave the Generals their first 20-point lead with 2:39 left in the first, 42-21. LSUA went into halftime with a 44-27 lead.
 
LSUA dominated the second half, outscoring Texas College by 16. Decuir scored 15 points in the second stanza, while McQuillan scored 12 in just nine minutes of play. The Generals knocked down 52.8-percent of their shots in the half.
 
The Generals host Jarvis Christian on Saturday, February 7, at 3:00 PM for Senior Day.
