ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team recorded a 73-66 win over Jarvis Christian University on Senior Day.
Jordan Decuir led the Generals (17-7, 14-4 RRAC) with 23 points. He knocked down seven shots, two from long range, and went 7-for-9 at the free throw line.
EJ McQuillan recorded 15 points and was 7-for-7 at the free throw line. LSUA recorded 28 points in the paint, 29 points off turnovers, 16 second chance points, and the bench recorded 27 points.
Kaleb Pouncy notched a team-high 10 rebounds, six of which came off the offensive glass. The Generals recorded 21 offensive rebounds.
The Bulldogs led for the first 15 minutes of action, including staking out multiple seven-point advantages.
With seven minutes left in the half, Decuir and McQuillan combined for eight points to tie the game at 32-32. The Generals out scored JCU 10-4 over the final 3:43 of the opening period for a 42-36 lead at halftime.
Seven minutes into the second half, the Bulldogs had shortened an eight-point deficit to just two. A three from Decuir and layup from
Talib Ferrette quickly reestablished a seven-point gap, 56-49.
The Generals held their advantage over the half, extending it to an eight-point lead twice, as they held on for the victory. They led for 58-percent of the contest.
LSUA hosts Texas A&M-San Antonio and Our Lady of the Lake University next week for Homecoming.
