HATTIESBURG, MS - The Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball fell to the No. 22 William Carey in a two-game series.

"I thought we battled all night," LSUA Head Coach Trent Partridge said. "We had plenty opportunities to be down and out and our girls stayed in and competed. We have to do a better job of closing out games but can't upset with how we fought. That's a postseason type game and to get that type of feel in March is always a plus."

GAME ONE | LSUA 0, WCU 3
LSUA suffered a 3-0 loss to William Carey on Tuesday at the Crusaders Field.

In the circle,
Lainee Bailey (9-4) delivered a complete game effort despite the loss. She tossed a six-inning game, she allowed three runs on 10 hits and striking out four.

William Carey opened the scoreboard in the bottom of the first. Julia Shaw doubled to right center, scoring Albanie Fussell, 1-0. Carline Lindsey followed with a single down left field to score Julia Shaw, 2-0.

The Crusaders added one more to the score in the third with a double to left field from Lindsey to score Fussell again.

The Generals were unable to respond at the plate. LSUA created limited opportunities, managing three hits and drawing two walks.

GAME TWO | LSUA 9, WCU 10
The Generals turned up the heat in the second match-up with back-and-forth scoring until the seventh inning, but ultimately fell 10-9.

The Generals got the jump on the Crusaders, scoring first in the second inning with a bunt single to score
Livie Thibodeaux from
Sophia Romero.
Lainee Bailey followed with a bunt of her own that resulted in a fielder's choice, plating Haley Fonetnot to make it 2-0.

William Carey responded immediately when Kinley Hogue launched a two-run homer to left field, 2-2.

The Crusaders added three more in the third, starting with an RBI single to left field from Julia Shaw that scored Liz Cross. Jayden Sawyer followed with a single to right field, plating both Shaw and Fussell, 2-5.

Rylie Theriot answered for LSUA in the fourth with an RBI single to center to score Romero.

In the fifth, Kinley Hogue was able to score on a wild pitch. This was followed by an RBI groundout by Brooklynn Montana to score Lily Bittle, 3-8.

Trailing by five, the Generals erupted in the sixth.
Molly Sistrunk doubled home Romero, and
Alyssa Soileau drove in Sistrunk with a sacrifice fly.
Kilee Moody ripped an RBi double to center, cutting the deficit 8-6.Â
Haley Fontenot then reached on a throwing error by the shortstop that allowed Thibodeaux, Kaeltyn Dunbar, and Moody to score, putting the Generals in the lead 9-8.

William Carey refused to fold in the bottom of the sixth. Caroline Lindsey singled home to ty the game, and Sawyer delivered an RBI single to left field to score Mackenzie Smith and give the win to the Crusaders, 9-10.

Kirsten Martinez started for the Generals. She pitched two innings and allowed five runs on four hits with one strikeout.
Rylee Guillot pitched 2two innings, surrendering three runs on three hits.
Cate Nettles takes the loss for the Generals. She allowed two runs. Bailey finished the game for the Generals, striking out one.Â
