No. 20 Softball Splits With A&M-San Antonio, 11-3 and 4-3

San Antonio, TX - The No. 20 Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball split a double header with Texas A&M-San Antonio.
 
"Kudos to San Antonio they got run ruled first game and cleared their heads and came out and played a great game the second game," head coach Tent Partridge says, "We will come out tomorrow and be better."
 
GAME ONE | LSUA 11, TAMUSA 3
Multi-run innings from the Generals (23-12, 12-2 RRAC) propelled them to a run-rule win in the opener.
 
Texas A&M San Antonio struck first in the opening frame, plating a pair of runs for a 2-0 lead.
 
LSUA responded in the top of the second with a double to right field from Jillian Howell to score Kaetlyn Dunbar. Moments later, Kilee Moody singled to third to score Kinsley Coleman. With the bases fully loaded, Sophia Romero singled to left field to drive in Molly Sistrunk. Livie Thibodeaux added to the momentum with a single to left field, scoring both Moody and Alyssa Soileau, 5-2.
 
The General's offense did not slow down in the third. Moody kept the pressure up with a double to left to score Sistrunk and Riche, 7-2.
 
In the fourth, the Generals added two more runs. A sacrifice fly from Riche and a bases-loaded walk drawn by Moody to push Howell home, 9-2.
 
Dunbar roped a single to center field to plate Thibodeaux in the fifth.
 
The Jaguars snapped the unanswered runs streak in the bottom of the fifth with a single from Aguilera to score Alyssa Arnall, 10-3.
 
To wrap up the game, the Generals put one more on the scoreboard. Haley Fontenot brought in the final run on a fielder's choice, closing out the 11-3 win.
 
In the circle, Lainee Bailey earned the win, making her 10-4 for the season. She tossed four solid innings and allowed two runs on five hits. Cate Nettles closed things out for the Generals, giving up one run across the final two innings with the Generals' defense backing her up.
 
Moody finished 3-for-3 with four runs batted in.
 
GAME TWO | LSUA 3, TAMUS 4
The Generals came up just short in the second game of the day, falling 4-3.
 
TAMUSA opened the scoring in the first, Barlow made it home from an error.
 
LSUA answered in the second, Sistrunk brought home Rylie Moran with a sacrifice fly to right field and Fontenot scored on the throw to make it 2-1.
 
The Generals added to the lead in the third with a triple to center by Thibodeaux to score Romero 3-1.
 
Corral singled to center in the third to score Anissa Rodriguez to begin cutting the deficit. With their comeback taking place Emily Palacio doubled to center to bring Emily Giardine home to tie up to game. The go-ahead run came from a fielder's choice that allowed Alyssa Vicenty to score, 4-3.
 
In the circle, Soileau got the start. She allowed three runs over two innings. Kristen Martinez was effective in relief and tossed two scoreless innings. Rylee Guillot (6-1) was charged with the loss, allowing the go-ahead run in the sixth.
