ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria baseball team completed the sweep of Xavier University of Louisiana with a 5-1 win in the series finale.
LSUA (17-8, 6-3 RRAC) got rolling in the second against Xavier University (4-12, 2-7 RRAC) when
Landon Langley grounded out to plate Fischer Einkfuf. Still in the second,
Evan Rohlfs-Schadel flew out to left field for a sacrifice fly which brought in
Brett Batteford.
The Gold Rush got their only run of the game in the third on a Lawrence Steed fly out to center field. A throwing error allowed Charles Carter to score on the play.
In the fifth inning, Cade LaBruyere grounded out to second base, bringing in
Colin Ardoin.
A lightning delay in the middle of the sixth forced a stoppage. Both starting pitchers returned to the bump after the delay.
The last runs for the Generals after the lightning delay came in the seventh inning, with a
Trevor Dooley single to center field, allowing LaBruyere and
Lane Patin to touch the home plate.
Carter Fabre got his third win of the season (3-1). He allowed just four hits, over eight innings of work, striking out nine of the 30 batters faced.
Nash Tamplet threw a scoreless inning of relief to finish the contest.
Jeremy Clark took the loss on the mound for the Gold Rush after 6.1 innings of work, allowing five hits and striking out four of the 29 batters faced.
The Generals hit the road to play a three-game series against Southwest (N.M.) next week in RRAC play.
