Baseball Captures Series Win Over No. 19 LCU on Senior Day

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria baseball team split a pair of games against No. 19 Louisiana Christian, 11-6 and 13-3, taking the series two games to one.

GAME ONE | LCU 11, LSUA 6
After an early LSUA (30-12, 18-6 RRAC) lead, three crooked innings for the Wildcats (32-17, 17-7 RRAC) led them to victory in the middle game of the series.

Seth Leger (4-3) was charged with the loss on the mound. He allowed six runs, four earned, on six hits and two walks. He struck out a trio of hitters. Kade Linn (8-1) went four innings to earn the win. He allowed six earned runs on nine hits and one walk. Linn added five strikeouts.

The Generals offense notched three consecutive RBI knocks in the first inning. Trevor Dooley recorded an RBI single before Dalton Wilson and Lane Kratzer hit back-to-back RBI triples for a 3-0 lead.

LCU responded immediately in the second. Gavin Vordick launched a solo home run to lead off the inning. In the third, Chris Kelley hit a three-run shot and was followed by Vordick with his second solo home run of the game for a 5-3 lead. A fielding error later in the third allowed another run to score, giving the Wildcats a 6-3 advantage.

In the fourth, Lane Patin drove in Kratzer with a single into right. Cade LaBruyere followed with a sacrifice fly to score Cameren Parks and cut the deficit to 6-5.

A pair of sacrifice flies from the Wildcats in the fifth added insurance runs for LCU. An RBI triple from Landon Langley, the third RBI triple of the game for LSUA, brought the Generals within two before the Wildcats added three more runs in the sixth.

GAME TWO | LSUA 13, LCU 3
Joshua Tinnerello's Senior Day walk-off home run in the seventh inning rang through the ballpark as the Generals took the series finale over the Red River Rival Wildcats.

Tinnerelo's blast capped four consecutive innings with runs scored for LSUA. They put up five in the fifth and six in the sixth after trailing 3-1 through four-and-a-half.

A two-run double in the first from Vordick put the Wildcats ahead early.

Both offenses were quiet until an RBI single from Cayden McCollough in the fourth made it 2-1.

In the top of the fifth, LCU took a two-run lead on an RBI single from Kelley.

The Generals responded with their first big inning of the game. A double from Dalton Wilson drove in LaBruyere. Parks then singled home Wilson. A first-and-third play saw Parks steal second and Langley score on the throw up the middle. Evan Rohlfs-Schadel roped a single to left center to score Parks. Patin followed with an RBI knock of his own to close the fifth's scoring for a 6-3 lead.

LSUA put up another big inning in the sixth. Parks drove in a pair with a single to right and an error allowed Parks to reach third and Kratzer to score. Patin then singled to left for an RBI before LaBruyere drove a pitch back up the middle to score Colin Ardoin.

Still in the sixth, a bases loaded hit by pitch for Wilson – his 26th HBP of the season – forced home Patin and give LSUA a 12-3 lead.

Tinnerello led off the seventh after coming on as a defensive replacement an inning earlier. Bryce O'Quinn got ahead in the count 1-2 before Tinnerello launched a no-doubter over the wall in right, triggering the run rule, and sealing the series win for the Generals.

Carter Fabre (7-1) was relentless on the mound. He tossed 6.2 innings and allowed just three earned runs on seven hits, while striking out seven.
