SAN ANTONIO, TX – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria baseball team split the opening two games of a three-game series against Our Lady of the Lake University.
GAME ONE | OLLU 5, LSUA 3
The Saints overcame an early 3-0 deficit to take the opening game of the series.
A two-run triple from
Cayden McCollough in the second gave the Generals a 2-0 lead.
Evan Rohlfs-Schadel then drove in McCollough a batter later.
Diego Zuniga cut the Saints' deficit to one with a two-run single in the third. In the fourth, Jacob Cueva singled home the game's tying run. He was then thrown out in a first and third play, allowing Alex Rodriguez to score.
A single from Brett Atkinson an inning later tacked on an insurance run to make it 5-3.
GAME TWO | LSUA 8, OLLU 2
The Generals bounced back to even the series in game two, using a pair of four run innings on their way to victory.
LSUA's offense wasted no time putting runs on the board.
Brett Batteford plated
Trevor Dooley with a double.
Landon Langley followed with a two-run double of his own.
Shae Thibodeaux then singled home Langley for a 4-0 lead.
The Saints got a run back in the second when Juan Garcia doubled home Aiden Gonzalez.
In the third, the Generals' bats went back to work. Langley doubled home Batteford and
Joshua Tinnerello drove in Langley. Cade LaBruyere later roped a two-run double, scoring
Cameren Parks and Tinnerello.
OLLU's final run came in the fifth on an RBI double from Jack Kalisky.
Batteford, Langley, and Tinnerello all collected two hits.
Colin Ardoin (3-2) threw eight innings on the bump. He allowed just two runs on nine hits and a walk. He struck out two.
Omar Rodriguez (2-1) was tagged with the loss. He allowed seven earned runs, on eight hits and two walks, over 2.1 innings.
