No. 24 Softball Drops Series Finale to No. 7 OLLU

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The No. 24 Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball team fell to No. 7 Our Lady of the Lake University, 19-1, in the series finale.
 
The Generals (23-13, 15-3 RRAC) claimed the series two games to one.
 

 
Kirsten Martinez (2-4) was charged with the loss in the circle. She allowed three runs, two earned, on two hits in an inning of work. Kilee Moody, Molly Sistrunk, and Rylie Jeau Theriot recorded the only hits for LSUA.
 
Our Lady of the Lake (28-6, 17-2 RRAC) scored in three separate innings, putting up crooked numbers in each. The Saints finished with 15 hits and Annika Litterio (19-4) went the distance.
 
OLLU recorded three runs in the first, including a pair of RBI singles from Marisa Rosales and Novalee Gloria.
 
They added six in the second, four of which came on a grand slam from Caitlin Casas.
 
LSUA held the Saints off the scoreboard in the third and notched their only run of the game in the bottom of the inning. Moody laced a double down the left field line, driving in Alyssa Soileau.
 
The Saints exploded for 10 runs in the fourth – nine of which came with two outs. The Saints reached base without an error for seven consecutive batters, six of which recorded hits.
 
Jaycie O'Conner tossed 1.11 innings of shutout relief in the game's final moments.
 
The Generals are on the road next week to take on Texas A&M-Victoria on Friday, April 10, and Saturday, April 11.
