No. 24 Softball Goes Dutch With Texas A&M-Victoria

VICTORIA, TX - The No. 24 Louisiana State University of Alexandria Generals split the first two games of their series with Texas A&M-Victoria, 5-1 and 5-4.

"The girls came out with great energy today and I couldn't be more proud of how we competed," LSUA Head Coach Trent Partridge said. "In game two, we needed to clean up some things defensively and do a better job of putting the game away, but I was really pleased with how we played through the first five innings. We didn't get the result we wanted, but there are a lot of valuable experiences we can build on as we head toward postseason play."

GAME ONE | LSUA 5, TAMUV 1
Both teams were quiet offensively for the first three innings. LSUA broke through in the fourth when Livie Thibodeaux launched a solo home run, 1-0.

The Generals (24-14, 16-4 RRAC) created separation in the fifth with a four-run streak. Alyssa Soileau got things started with an RBI groundout that brought home Ryleigh Moran and advanced Molly Sistrunk to third. Sophia Romero then delivered an RBI single to left field to push the lead to 3-0. Thibodeaux continued to produce for the Generals by drawing a bases-loaded walk, allowing Moody to score, for a 4-0 advantage.

Madison Carr put the Jaguars on the board in the bottom of the fifth with a single to center field to score Kelly Rosario.

In the seventh, Kaetlyn Dunbar secured the win for the Generals with an RBI single to right center, plating Haley Fontenot, to make it 5-1.

In the circle, Lainee Bailey (14-5) tossed a complete game, allowing just two hits and one unearned run while striking out three to earn her 14th win of the season.

Zoe Hardy took the loss for the Jaguars. She allowed four hits and one strikeout in 4.2 innings until she was relieved by Haley Noska. Noska pitched the rest of the game and struck out two.

GAME TWO | TAMUV 5, LSUA 4
The Generals kept their momentum going from game one into the second, striking first in the second inning.

Bailey doubled to left field to bring home Thibodeaux for the game's first run. Later in the inning, LSUA added another run as Howell crossed the plate on a double play, giving the Generals a 2-0 advantage.

Texas A&M-Victoria answered in the bottom of the inning with an RBI double from Daizie Fuentez to cut the deficit in half, 2-1.

Moody extended the General's lead in the third inning with a home run to make the game 3-1.

In the fourth, Bailey proved strong at the plate with an RBI double to score Dunbar and push the Generals' lead to 4-1.

The Jaguars complete the rally in the later innings. Hoover tied the game in the sixth with an RBI double to right field to bring home Emily Mayo.

The seventh inning proved to be successful for the Jaguars. Alyssa Carter led off the inning with a single. Angelina Morales laid down a sacrifice bunt and an errant throw allowed her to reach.
