Baseball Evens RRAC Opening Round with 16-5 Win Over Texarkana

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria baseball team evened their Red River Athletic Conference Championship series against Texas A&M-Texarkana with a 16-5 win in seven innings.

The Generals (33-14) scored in each of the first five innings. They put up crooked numbers in the second through fifth innings.

Colin Ardoin (2-0) tossed 5.1 innings on the mound to earn the win. He allowed five earned runs on 10 hits. He struck out four. Jack Cowan hurled 1.2 innings of perfect relief, retiring all five batters he faced.

Dalton Wilson put the Generals ahead in the first inning with an RBI ground out but the lead was quickly erased by the Eagles' (28-23) Brandon Sheets, who tied the game in the second.

LSUA responded in the bottom of the inning. Evan Rohlfs-Schadel drove in a pair with a single through the left side. Cade LaBruyere later drove in Johsua Tinnerello, who ran for Rohlfs-Schadel, with a single down the first base line. Cameren Parks followed with an RBI single of his own for a 5-1 lead.

An inning later, Lane Kratzer tripled home Landon Langley. Trevor Dooley then lifted a sacrifice fly to score Kratzer.

Sheets struck again for the Eagles in the fourth. He hit an RBI single and a second run came around on an error. Landon West followed with an RBI double, cutting the score to 7-4.

The Generals offense went back to work in their half of the inning. Wilson doubled home a pair before Kratzer singled home a pair with an opposite field knock to make it 11-4.

After an RBI single from Jayce Blalock to cut it to 11-5, Cameren Parks hit an RBI infield single in the fifth. Wilson then singled home a run before Dooley plated a pair with a single up the middle. The Generals' final run came on a bases loaded walk by Evan Rohlfs-Schadel.

Wilson finished with four runs batted in. Kratzer, Dooley, and Rohlfs-Schadel each had three. Wilson, Kratzer, and Parks each collected three hits.

The Generals take on the Eagles tomorrow, April 26, at noon from Generals Baseball Field in an elimination game.
