ALEXANDRIA, LA – Lucas O'Donnell scored twice as the Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's soccer team upset No. 10 Bethel University (TN), 3-0.
The Generals (2-1-0) out shot the Wildcats (1-2-1) 16-5. Both Samuel Moreno and
Jayden Peglar made a pair of saves. Peglar earned his first clean sheet in a Generals' kit.
It didn't take long for LSUA to find the scoresheet. O'Donnell was tripped up by the keeper in just third minute, awarding the Generals a penalty kick. The senior converted for a 1-0 lead.
Eight minutes later, O'Donnell was at it again.
Juan Buitrago slipped a pass through the Wildcats' back line and O'Donnell fired a shot home for a 2-0 lead.
LSUA's final goal came in the 32
nd minute.
Takumi Hirose drove a corner kick inside the six and
Pablo Novoa Martin headed it over the line for a 3-0 lead.
The Generals recorded seven shots in the second half, just one of target. They generated six corners while holding the Wildcats to two shots and three corners.
LSUA is on the road for a pair of games next week against William Carey University on Friday, September 4, and the University of Mobile on Sunday, September 6.
