ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer team fell to Louisiana State University of Shreveport in a Red River Athletic Conference match, 2-0.
"It's always tough when you shoot yourself in the foot a couple times," LSUA Head Coach
Mark Hammond said. "When you do that against good sides, you're going to get punished for it and LSUS is a good side. We got control of the first half but halftime came at the wrong time for us. We'll reflect on it and we have another big one on Saturday."
The Generals (5-4-1, 4-1-1 RRAC) finished with seven shots, one of which was on goal. The Pilots (9-3-0, 6-1-0 RRAC) totaled 10 shots with eight on frame.
Victoria Weber made six saves in net for LSUA, three in each half.
The game's opening goal came in the 12
th minute. The Pilots were the beneficiaries of a Generals' own goal. The insurance marker came roughly seven minutes later. Dawniella Torres finished her chance off for the 2-0 advantage.
Searching for an answer offensively,
Sofia Jimeno Nogué headed a corner from
Micaela Nunes just wide in the 29
th minute.
Alexia Bermejo Jo's chance in the 83
rd minute was stymied by the Pilots' keeper.
The Generals are back in action on Saturday, October 12, as they host Texas A&M-Texarkana in another Red River Athletic Conference match. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
