ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's tennis team heads to the Dillard Invitational this week.
"We are looking forward to playing in the Dillard invitational this weekend," LSUA Head Coach
Melinda Descant said. "There will be some really great competition. It will be nice to see my girls compete on this level, so I can see what they do well and what they need to work on, because this is a very young team, with a lot of promise."
The Generals last competed at the ITA NAIA Gulf Regional Championship, hosted by Xavier University of Louisiana.
This weekend's tournament at Dillard uses an A,B,C draw for singles an A,B draw for doubles.
SINGLES DRAW
In the women's singles A bracket,
Gianna Panaggio opens play against LSU Shreveport's Piering Lescher at 10 AM on Friday, October 17.
Nahia Echaide takes on Loyola University New Orleans' Avery Frierson. In the final pairing in the A bracket,
Kanu Rajawat drew Adele Fereres, also of Loyola University New Orleans.
The women's singles B bracket consists of
Marthe Chopin against Southeastern Louisiana's Aitana Darder at 11:30 AM on Friday.
Joline Roesch is matched up against LSU Shreveport's Lidia Gomez.
Farren Sandy is slated to play Loyola's Bianca Harris at 1:00 PM.
In the C bracket,
Ekaterina Amosova faces Farah Ibrahim from Dillard University at 4:00 PM. The final pairing is
Belen Blasco taking on LSUS's Nicoleta Anestiadi.
DOUBLES DRAW
In the doubles A bracket, Echaide and Panaggio take on Loyola's Feres and Frierson at 8:00 AM on Friday. Rajawat and Roesch are slated to play SELU's Panatchakorn Suanarsa and Darder, also at 8:00 AM.
In the B bracket, Blasco and Sandy open play on Thursday, October 14, at 4:00 PM against Dillard's Dora Olgungul and Marcelina Kotylak.
Chopin and Amosova then play LSUS' Angela Basto and Gomez on Friday at 8:30 AM.
