PREVIEW | Men's Basketball Hits the Road Against Southwest (N.M.) and Paul Quinn

ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team is on the road for a pair of Red River Athletic Conference games against the University of the Southwest (N.M.) and Paul Quinn College.
 
"It's about going 1-0 every day," LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson said of his team's three-game week. "Our guys they look forward to competing. This is part o the season we were preparing for in September."
 
Assistant Coach Dwayne Harmason added: "We always talk to our guys about being professional and this is a professional week. At the professional level you have weeks like this. Right now, it's taking the challenge of a professional week like taking care of their bodies, icing, handling their business in the classroom on and off the court."
 
The Generals (7-1, 4-1 RRAC) opened their week with an 82-62 win over Louisiana Christian University in the opening leg of the Red River Rivalry.
 
SCOUTING UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTHWEST (N.M.)
The Mustangs are 6-2 overall and 3-2 in RRAC play. They dropped their last two conference outings against Texas A&M-Texarkana, 83-67, and Jarvis Christian, 80-73. The Mustangs are 4-0 at home.
 
Southwest (N.M.) is averaging 90.8 points per game and shooting 52.5 percent from the field. Jacob Koontz leads the Mustangs with 17.7 points per game. He is trailed by Rahkiem Petterson (12.8) and Jalen Mcafee Marion (10.1). Koontz is shooting 55.9 percent from the floor, while Petterson is converting at a clip of 61.4 percent. Joshua Sasser is the Mustangs' most prolific three-point shooter, knocking down 16 of his 39 attempts from long range. The Mustangs are the 14th best scoring team in the NAIA and rank eighth in field goal percentage.
 
In RRAC play, Koontz is averaging 16.6 points per game, while Petterson comes in at 14.8.
 
Koontz and Petterson lead USW's rebounding efforts at 7.0 and 5.4 boards per night respectively. Koontz averages three offensive rebounds per game.
 
The Generals are 13-1 all-time against the Mustangs. They have won the last three meetings against USW and are 10-1 since the Mustangs joined the RRAC.
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 8:30 PM CT on Thursday, December 5, in Hobbs, N.M.

SCOUTING PAUL QUINN COLLEGE
Paul Quinn is 2-6 on the season and 2-3 in RRAC meetings. They have lost their last three contests and are 2-2 at home. They fell to Jarvis Christian, 73-61, and Texas A&M-Texarkana, 87-63, last week.
 
The Tigers average 64.3 points per game and are shooting 42 percent from the floor. Norris Williams leads Paul Quinn's offense with 18.18 points per game. He is shooting 44.8 percent from the floor and 50 percent from deep. Jayce Spann (9.6) and Jeb Tobin (8.4) round out the top three scorers for the Tigers. In conference play, Williams averages 18.4 points per game and is shooting at a clip of 45.1 percent. The Tigers have allowed an average of 76.5 points per game.
The Generals are 16-2 all-time against Paul Quinn. They have won the last three meetings and are 6-1 when meeting in Dallas. LSUA holds a 7-2 record since PQC joined the RRAC.
