ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's basketball team continues Red River Athletic Conference play with a pair of games against the University of the Southwest (N.M.) and Paul Quinn College.
"All year we've gone one game at a time," LSUA Head Coach Billy Perkins said. "This isn't our first week of having three games. It was a good feeling to open the week with a lot of pressure in the Red River Rivalry before we go out on the road."
The Generals (7-2, 4-1 RRAC) are coming off an 80-68 victory over Louisiana Christian College in the opening leg of the Red River Rivalry.
SCOUTING UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTHWEST (N.M.)
The Mustangs are 4-5 overall and 0-5 in RRAC play. They have lost their last five contests and are 4-2 at home. Last week, Southwest (N.M.) dropped a pair of games against Texas A&M-Texarkana, 77-65, and Jarvis Christian, 60-56.
Southwest averages 77.4 points per game and is shooting 38.2 percent from the floor. Milinda Arguellez leads the Mustangs' offense, averaging 12.7 points per game. Briana Montoya (12.4) is the only other player averaging double digit points. Arguellez is shotting 40.4 percent from the floor. Montoya has come off the bench in all nine games for the Mustangs and is shooting 42.6 percent. She is also converting at a clip of 43.7 percent from long range.
The Generals are 10-2 all-time against the Mustangs. They have won the last three meeting against Southwest (N.M.) and are 9-2 since the Mustangs joined the RRAC.
Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 PM CT on Thursday, December 5, in Hobbs, N.M.

SCOUTING PAUL QUINN COLLEGE
The Tigers are 5-3 on the season and 4-1 in RRAC contests. They have won their last four meetings and are 2-2 at home. Last week, they recorded a pair of wins over Jarvis Christian, 59-46, and Texas A&M-Texarkana, 58-56.
Paul Quinn averages 65.1 points per game and are shooting 39 percent from the field as a unit. Canai McPherson leads the Tigers' offense, averaging 18 points per game. Cierra Taylor (12.6), Kayla Webster (10.9), and Zaire Brown (10.1) are also averaging a double-digit scoring effort. Brown is shooting 46.9 percent, while Webster checks in at 43.6. McPherson leads the quarter in threes attempted at 52, but is converting at a clip of just 21.2 percent despite shooting 40.0 percent from the floor.
Brown leads the rebounding effort, hauling in 9.1 rebounds per game. She averages three offensive rebounds per night. The Tigers reel in 36.9 rebounds on average.
The Generals are 13-3 all-time against the Tigers. They have won the last six meetings and are 5-2 when playing in Dallas. LSUA is 8-1 against Paul Quinn since they joined the RRAC and are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings.
Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 7, in Dallas.
