Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Rams Take Down Generals, 3-1

MOBILE, Ala. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer team (1-2-0) fell to the University of Mobile (2-0-1), 3-1.

"It was a poor first half showing defensively," LSUA Head Coach Mark Hammond said. "When you give a good side opportunities to get ahead and control the game, it's always going to be tough. We made some adjustments in the second half and looked better. When you're down 3-0, you're always going to be chasing the game and that's a hard thing to do. We have a chance on Monday to be better and figure out more about ourselves."

Micaela Nunes scored the only goal for the Generals, coming on a penalty kick in the 49th minute.

Mobile's offense struck a trio of times in the opening stanza. Raegan Latiolais started the scoring for the Rams. Andi Hughes dribbled up the left wing and sent a low service into the middle of the box where Latiolais sent it home. Five minutes later, Lindsey Meza headed a service from Ashlyn Broussard into the back of the net. The Rams' final goal of the half came in the 43rd minute. Delainy Cunningham headed a cross from Bailey Bronner for a 3-0 advantage.

Victoria Weber made one save in the first half, turning aside a shot from Cunningham in the 39th minute.

The Generals recorded five shots in the first half, however, none were on net. Alexia Bermejo Jo had the game's first opportunity but it went wide right. Nunes and Sacha Backus each recorded one shot. Remmie Ferla had a pair of shots blocked in the in the 37th and 38th minutes.

Nunes' penalty goal sparked the Generals' offense. They generated a trio of chances from the 55th to 59th minutes from Bermejo Jo, Elke Tijink, and Jacqui Guillermo but all three shots were blocked.

Weber was called on twice in the second, finishing with a total of three saves. She turned away shots from Megan Quiroz and Kaitlyn Skrove, the latter coming on a headed effort in the 83rd minute.

A late effort from Hille Baumfalk in the 89th minute missed right.

The Generals finished with 10 shots, just one of which was on goal. The Rams totaled 13 shots, six on goal. LSUA took five shots in each half, while they received their only corner kick in the first.

LSUA heads to Thomas University for a Labor Day match against the Night Hawks on Monday, September 2. Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM Eastern (Noon CT).
