PREVIEW | Women's Basketball Faces Eagles and Bulldogs in RRAC Contests

ALEXANDRIA, La. – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's basketball team hosts Texas A&M-Texarkana before heading on the road to face Jarvis Christian University in a pair of Red River Athletic Conference contests.
 
"Texarkana is a good team," LSUA Head Coach Billy Perkins said. "They have the player of the year from last year. Then we have to go on the road at Jarvis Christian. It will be a battle. We have to recover and regroup to try and get back on a winning streak."
 
The Generals (11-5, 8-4 RRAC) fell to (RV) LSU Shreveport, 76-60, in their first game of 2025. This week's games against Texas A&M-Texarkana and Jarvis Christian officially mark the start of the second half of RRAC play.
 
SCOUTING TEXAS A&M-TEXARKANA
The Eagles are 3-13 overall and 3-9 in RRAC play. They have lost their last two games and are 1-8 when playing at home. Last week, Texarkana fell to North American University, 77-58, and Huston-Tillotson, 72-69.
 
Texarkana averages 62.2 points per game and are shooting 38.4 percent from the floor. They hold a 39.3 to 34.9 advantage in rebounding over their opponents. The Eagles' opponents average 71.7 points per game.
 
Kayla Williams leads the Eagles' offense, scoring 13.5 points per game. She is shooting 48 percent from the floor and 48.3 percent from deep. Williams also averages 8.4 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game. Gigi Waddell averages 7.9 points per game. Behind Williams in rebounding is Delfina Misiuna at 5.7 rebounds per game.
 
The Generals are 8-3 against the Eagles all-time. They have won the last three meetings and are 4-1 when playing in The Fort.
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM on Tuesday, January 7, at The Fort.

SCOUTING JARVIS CHRISTIAN
The Bulldogs are 2-9 overall and 2-7 in RRAC games. They are 2-4 at home and have lost their last two outings. Jarvis Christian plays LSU Shreveport on Tuesday, January 7, before hosting the Generals on Saturday.
 
Jarvis Christian averages 58.4 points per game and is shooting 27.3 percent from the floor. The Bulldogs hold a 45.7 to 42.5 advantage over their opponents in rebounding. Opponents average 74.1 points per game.
 
Raniya White leads the Bulldogs in scoring, averaging 10.5 points per game. She is shooting 31.5 percent from the floor. Jacy Reese (9.8) and Carmella Hayden (9.1) round out the top three scorers for Jarvis Christian. White also leads the Bulldogs in rebounding, hauling in 8.3 boards per game. Haven Verret is right behind her at 9.2. Verret has appeared in nine games this season and made three starts.
 
The Generals are 18-4 all-time against the Bulldogs. They have won the last four contests and are 6-4 when playing in Hawkins, Texas.
 
Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 11, in Hawkins, Texas.
