VICTORIA, TX – Goals from
Alexia Bermejo Jo and
Justice Richardson gave the Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer team a 2-0 win over Texas A&M-Victoria.

LSUA has now won five straight games.
"Massive win on the road," LSUA Head Coach
Mark Hammond said. "Coming to Victoria is always a tough place to get a win, especially in The Cage. It's a long trip on the bus but credit to the girls. We knew what we had to do, we had the assignment of coming out with a big start and I think we were fantastic. That first 30 minutes was excellent and we were able to establish some dominance over the game. Second half, we had to dig deep a few times. Yanira [Herraez] made a fantastic save to keep the clean sheet but I think we were well deserved. The girls were fantastic and it was a big squad performance this week to get six points."
Bermejo put three shots on target, all turned away by Jamie Noriega, before she broke through in the 23
rd minute. She headed home a corner kick from
Abril Cobos for a 1-0 lead. Bermejo's goal was her second game-winning goal of the season.
Late in the first half, Linnea Lundstroem put a pair of chances on goal and Noriega made both stops to keep the game at 1-0 heading into the halftime break.
Yanira Herraez made her first save of the contest in the 51
st minute, parrying a chance from Siobhan Scott.
Ariana Lowenstein connected with Bermejo in the 73
rd minute near the top of the box. Bermejo then turned and sent a pass to Richardson who buried her shot for a 2-0 lead.
Herraez was called into action again in the 76
th minute. She stymied a chance from Serenity Petaia. Her final save came in the 88
th minute, keeping a chance from Ayloni Garcia out, to preserve the clean sheet.
LSUA travels to LSU Shreveport next Thursday before taking on Louisiana Christian in their final regular season home game of the season.
