SAN ANTONIO, TX – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer team fell to Our Lady of the Lake University, 2-0.
The Saints (5-3-1, 2-1-0 RRAC) scored both of their goals in the first half and finished with 30 shots. They held the Generals (4-6-0, 2-1-0 RRAC) to just three shots, all of which came in the second half.
"We are very disappointed with our performance today," LSUA Head Coach
Mark Hammond said. "No excuses, we were not good enough. The better side won today and credit to OLLU. We knew what to expect but we didn't have the answers for them. We will need a big reaction for Saturday's game against Texas A&M-San Antonio."
Linnea Lundstroem had LSUA's first shot in the 58
th minute.
Fenja Leibner nearly put the Generals on the board in the 79
th minute, but was stymied by London Suarez. Leibner had a second chance in the 87
th minute, but it went high.
Leah Tapia notched OLLU's first goal in the 20
th minute. Eleonora Diversi made it 2-0 Saints in the 36
th minute with a one-timed goal. Diversi finished with nine shots, five of which were on goal. Tapia registered five shots; all were on frame.
Meike van Straten made 13 saves in net.
The Generals take on Texas A&M-San Antonio on Saturday, October 4, at 1:00 PM in San Antonio.
