ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria baseball team travels to New Orleans, Louisiana for a non-conference game against Southern University at New Orleans, before taking on Louisiana Christian in a three-game series in Pineville, Louisiana.
"We have our first mid-week game this week so we are excited to see some of the pitchers throw that haven't been getting many opportunities," LSUA Head Coach Kody Gautreaux said. "SUNO will be a quality opponent that will be tough to beat on the road. The weekend will be fun, its always fun to go across the river and play LCU. They will be a talented team that is always tough to play. We are excited for the challenge."
The Generals (7-7) are coming off a three-game sweep of Xavier University of Louisiana in their opening weekend of Red River Athletic Conference play.
SCOUTING SOUTHERN UNIVERSITY AT NEW ORLEANS
The Knights are 2-6 on the season and have won their last two games.
Damian Lantigua leads SUNO's offense with a slash line of .414/.528/.690. He has driven in a team-high eight runs and is one of three players with a homerun. Miles Bowens and Kerrigan Edmondson have also taken opposing pitchers deep. As a team, the Knights are slashing .300/.393/.422 and have scored 47 runs.
On the mound, Enrique Herazo Jr. has hurled 14.2 innings over two starts. He is 0-1 with an ERA of 2.45. Herazjo Jr. has struck out 13 hitters and has a WHIP of 1.43. As a unit, the Knights' staff has an ERA of 6.89 and a WHIP of 1.89. Opposing hitters are hitting .296 against SUNO pitching.
