ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria men's basketball team is excited to announce seven committed players for the 2025-26 season.
"We are super excited about this recruiting class coming in," LSUA Head Coach Dimario Jackson said. "We addressed our needs. All of the incoming guys are clear on what the next steps are for our program, and they are excited to come in and help take us to the next level. They are all disciplined, tough and have great character."
Courtney McCarthy joins the Generals from Baton Rouge Community College. A native of Monroe, Louisiana, McCarthy is a 6-foot-5 guard from Richwood High School. In high school, McCarthy was First Team All-District and Second Team All-State. While playing for BRCC, McCarthy earned a pair of First Team All-Conference selections and was First Team All-Region in 2023-24.
"I chose LSUA because I like the way the program is ran," McCarthy said. "I like how they are winning championships and building character in young men and that's what I like to be around."
Javon Smith is a 5-foot-10 guard from Missouri City, Texas. He attended Hightower High School. Smith joins the Generals from Southern Arkansas University Tech. He recorded 668 points and 181 assists while at SAU Tech and garnered multiple Player of the Week selections.
"I chose LSUA to win and build my character while continuing to play basketball," Smith said.
Terrence Marco is a 6-foot-8 forward from Charleston, Mississippi. He joins LSUA from Northeast Mississippi Community College. In two seasons at NMCC, Marco recorded 216 rebounds and 88 blocks for the Tigers. In high school, Marco was named Defensive MVP, Delta Showdown Defensive MVP, and earned a pair of All-Tournament Team selections.
"I chose to go to LSUA because it offers a strong academic program that aligns with my career goals," Marco said. "The chance to engage with a dedicated faculty and participate in hands-on learning experiences really stood out to me as I made my decision."
Johnny DeWalt is a 6-foot-9 forward from Livingston, Texas. He attended Livingston High School and joins LSUA from the University of the Southwest and was a Red River Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete. He played for the Houston Raptors travel team.
Quentin Henry is a 6-foot-7 forward from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He joins the Generals from Western Texas Community College. Henry appeared in 30 games for the Westerners last season. He averaged 10.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. He knocked down 35.6 percent of his shots from the field and registered 29 steals and 14 blocks.
"I chose LSUA because it was the best decision for me and my family," DeWalt said. "A great opportunity to grow as a person and as an athlete!"
Norman Beckford is a 6-foot-7 forward from Houston, Texas. He joins the Generals from the University of the Southwest. He appeared in 29 games last season for the Mustangs and averaged 7.2 points and 3.3 rebounds per game.
"I chose LSUA because I wanted to be a part of a winning culture that can help me in the future," Beckford said.
PD McCraney is a 6-foot-1 guard from Newellton, Louisiana. He joins LSUA from UL Monroe. Prior to playing for the War Hawks, McCraney played for Hinds Community College where he earned Second Team All-MACCC honors.
"I chose LSUA because it felt like home," McCraney said. "I could tell everyone really cared for me as a student-athlete and a person."
Talib Ferrette is a 6-foot-6 forward from Crofton, Maryland. He joins the Generals from Auburn University at Montgomery. He appeared in 27 games for AUM in 2024-25 and averaged 7.6 points per game. Ferrette shot 40.6 percent from the floor and 74.6 percent at the free throw line.
"I chose LSUA because Coach Jackson believed in me and he's a coach I want to go to battle with," Ferrette said.
