Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women's Soccer Blanks Texas Wesleyan, 3-0

FORT WORTH, TX – Three different players scored as the Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer team shut out Texas Wesleyan, 3-0.

"A really professional away win and performance," LSUA Head Coach Mark Hammond said. "We dominated the game from the first whistle. I thought we were solid at the back and moved the ball quite well."

The Generals (1-3-0) besieged the Rams (1-1-1) and held a 12-1 advantage in shots, seven of which came in the second half. LSUA kept Texas Wesleyan sequestered to their own half of the pitch for most of the game.

Sara Escribano García-Miguel notched her second goal of the season, and first game-winning goal, in the 15th minute. Jacqui Guillermo extended LSUA's lead to 2-0 with her first goal of the campaign in the 25th minute. Sacha Backus recorded assists on both goals, bringing her season assist total to three.

Ariana Lowenstein tallied her first career goal in the 52nd minute, the final LSUA goal.

"We scored some well-worked goals," Hammond added. "Very happy for Ari to get her first collegiate goal - hopefully the first of many. It was also great to see Sacha back on the score sheet with a very good finish. Now it's time to turn our attention to Monday."

Meike van Straten made one save and earned her first clean sheet of the year. Her lone save, the only shot of the game for Texas Wesleyan, came in the 64th minute.

Following Lowenstein's goal, LSUA recorded four more shots on goal from Lowenstein, Alexia Bermejo Jo, and Audrian Cruz.

LSUA is back in action on Monday, September 1, as they travel to Nelson University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 PM.
