ALEXANDRIA, LA – Alexia Bermejo Jo became the Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer all-time leading goal scorer, and points leader, with a hat trick against Texas College in a 9-0 win.
Bermejo Jo surpassed
Remmie Ferla, who set the record last season with 24 goals. Bermejo's hat trick brings her to 27. She now has 78 total career points.
The Generals (4-5-0, 2-0-0 RRAC) besieged the Steers (0-3-1, 0-2-0 RRAC) with 42 shots. They put 21 shots on goal and held TC shotless.
"These games can be difficult," LSUA Head Coach
Mark Hammond said. "We know going into it we are going to dominate the game, so it's a different type of challenge because you have to hold yourself accountable and maintain your standards. I think we started really well and once we got that first one, it just kind of opened."
Sara Escribano García-Miguel was the first on the board in the ninth minute. She tucked a shot from the top of the 18 inside the post for a 1-0 lead.
Bermejo's first goal came in the 14
th minute.
Justice Richardson rang a chance off the crossbar and Bermejo cleaned up the rebound.
Sacha Backus took an over-the-top pass from Bermejo and slipped it around the keeper for a 3-0 lead in the 19
th minute.

Jacqui Guillermo went bar down for her first goal of the season and final goal of the half.
Bermejo notched her second of the game in the 58
th minute, taking a pass from Escribano and beating the keeper for the 5-0 lead.
Linnea Lundstroem made it a 6-0 game in the 61
st minute with her second goal of the season. She took a pass from
Abril Cobos and fired it home.
Bermejo's hat trick goal came in the 67
th minute
Carolina Anjos Pereira played a ball through Texas College's back line to Bermejo, who beat the keeper to the left with her shot.
Anjos Pereira wasted no time putting her own name in the ledger, punching in a rebound in the 70
th minute.
Taylor Carty finished the scoring in the 83
rd minute. Carty sowed chaos inside the Steers' 18 after a pass back to the keeper and slotted her chance to make it 9-0.
LSUA heads on the road to take on Our Lady of the Lake and Texas A&M-San Antonio next week. They take on the Saints on Thursday, October 2, at 1:00 PM.
