PULASKI, TN – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria women's soccer team suffered its first loss of the season to (RV) Tennessee Southern, 2-0.
"I don't think we did enough to get a result today," LSUA Head Coach
Mark Hammond said. "We've been left wanting more from both penalty areas. While I think the effort was there from the squad, we lacked composure and quality at times. Fair play to UT Southern, as they are a strong side who will have a strong season. The best thing about this part of the season is that we have another opportunity to get better on Thursday against another strong opponent."
The Firehawks (1-0-0) put up double-digit shot totals in both halves and held the Generals (1-1-0) to just 10 shots. LSUA managed to put seven of their 10 shots on goal.
Meike van Straten made nine saves in goal for the Generals.

Ariana Lowenstein,
Paula Suarez,
Justice Richardson,
Cailyn Bailey, and
Sacha Backus all recorded shots on goal.
Tennessee Southern found the back of the net in the first 10 minutes. Riho Masuya capitalized on a Generals' turnover in their defensive third in the seventh minute for a 1-0 lead.
Richardson had the Generals' first chance of the game seconds prior to Masyua's goal but she was denied by Sam De Gier. The Firehawks' keeper then turned away Suarez in the 34
th minute and Backus in the 39
th minute.
Dallmann was the first to test De Gier in the second, being rebuffed in the 49
th minute.
The Firehawks tacked on their second goal in the 53
rd minute. Karla Montiel took a pass from Osiris Rodriguez and slipped her shot back post for a 2-0 lead.
LSUA had a pair of shots on goal in the game's final 15 minutes. Bailey and Fielding were both stymied by De Gier as she preserved the clean sheet.
The Generals are on the road again on Thursday, August 27, as they travel to the University of Mobile for a 9:00 AM kick-off.
