"Two big top 15 matchups tomorrow," LSUA Head Coach Trent Partridge said. "We are ready to lock in and play our style of softball. Anytime you face William Carey, you know you're getting elite pitching and a postseason-type battle."
The Generals (20-2, 8-0 RRAC) swept US Sports Academy and Southwest (N.M.) in a pair of doubleheaders last week. LSUA has the fifth highest average among NAIA schools (.386) and are currently third in stolen bases (77). The Generals also rank third in slugging percentage (.597), are fifth in homeruns (25), seventh in runs (189), and sixth in extra base hits (77).
Haley Primrose is tied for second in wins (12), is second in complete games (11), fifth in shutouts (5), and seventh in strikeouts (93).
SCOUTING NO. 13 WILLIAM CAREY
The Crusaders are 17-4 overall and 4-2 in Southern States play. They have not played since March 8 at the Gulf Shores Invitational. They dropped a 5-2 game against Central Methodist and won a 4-1 game against Lindsey Wilson College.
William Carey is slashing .312/.587/.672 as a team. They have sored 97 runs and have hit one homerun. Julia Shaw leads the Crusaders with an average of .500. Liz Cross and Laila Clark have stolen 16 and 13 bases, respectively, without getting caught. William Carey is 40-for-41 in stolen base attempts this season.
In the circle, Reanna Nieman and Ryanne Hornsby have split pitching duties. Nieman is 8-1 through 65.2 innings with an ERA of 0.85 and a WHIP of 0.93. Opposing hitters have an average of .201 against her. Hornsby is 9-2 through 74.1 innings. She has an ERA of 1.51 and a WHIP of 0.94. Hornsby has fanned 58 hitters and opponents are hitting .222 against her. As a staff, the Crusaders have an ERA of 1.30 and a WHIP of 1.30.
The Generals and Crusaders played earlier this season in the Generals Showdown. Hornsby threw a complete game for the win. While Primrose was charged with the loss, she allowed just one earned run. The Crusaders won 7-4 and scored five runs in the fifth inning. LSUA is 4-12 all-time against William Carey and 0-9 when playing in Hattiesburg.
First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

The Millers are 9-15 on the season. They are 4-9 when playing away from home.
As a unit, John Melvin is slashing .271/.365/.331. They have scored 105 runs and have hit six home runs. Jozlyn Westfall leads the Millers with an average of .423. She has driven in a team-high 17 runs. Janci Aube leads JMU with four homeruns.
