PREVIEW | Softball Heads to Gulf Shores Invitational

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The No. 15 Louisiana State University of Alexandria travels to the Gulf Shores Invitational for six games.
 
"It's going to be an exciting and challenging weekend," LSUA Head Coach Trent Partridge said. "Any time you face four ranked opponents, you know you've got your work cut out for you. We're heading down to Gulf Shores to play our aggressive style of ball and enjoy some quality team bonding time. By the end of the weekend, we'll have a clear picture of where we stand among the best in the country."

The Generals (13-1, 6-0 RRAC) have won 10 straight games, including a doubleheader sweep of Texas A&M-Texarkana last week.
 
SCOUTING NO. 7 UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS
The Patriots are 10-5 on the season and have won their last two games.
 
As a team, Cumberlands is slashing .320/.412/.452. They have hit six homeruns and scored 78 runs. Carly Oliver leads the Patriots with an average of .500 and is slugging .929. She has three homeruns and 13 runs batted in. Jade Gainer is hitting .385 and has driven in a team-high 14 runs.
 
In the circle, Lindsey Shope has made seven starts and appeared in nine games. She has tossed 37.2 innings, four completes, and two shutouts. She has a record of 1.67, a WHIP of 1.01, and opposing hitters are hitting just .212 against her. Shope has recorded 12 strikeouts and has yet to allow a homerun. The Patriots have a team ERA of 2.76 and a WHIP of 1.35.
 
LSUA is 0-2 against the Patriots all-time.

SCOUTING COLLEGE OF ST. MARY (NE)
The Flames are 2-6 on the season.
 
As a team, CSM is hitting .285 as a team with three homeruns. They have scored 38 runs. Ella Watts leads the Flames with an average of .462. She has a pair of homeruns and driven in 11. Shaylynn Campbell is hitting .357, while Maycee Hays is hitting .333.
 
In the circle, the Flames have a team ERA of 5.18 and a WHIP of 1.56. Campbell has tossed 30 innings and has a record of 1-5 over six starts. She has an ERA of 5.13 and a WHIP of 1.47. She has recorded 27 strikeouts and walked 10.

SCOUTING NO. 23 CAMPBELLSVILLE
The Tigers are 9-2 on the season and have a 5-1 record when playing in neutral site games.
 
Korey Harris leads Campbellsville's offense with a slash line of .472/.525/.583. She has recorded nine stolen bases in 10 chances. Jessie Daniels and Selynna Metcalfe are close behind Harris with averages of .467 and .464, respectively. Daniels is slugging 1.200 on the season with six round trippers and 17 runs batted in. Metcalfe has clubbed a trio of homeruns and has driven in 13. The Tigers are hitting .369 as a team with 21 homeruns. They have scored 90 runs.
 
Three pitchers have shared the duties in the circle for CU. Emma Markham, Leah Holland, and Ellie Coley have each made multiple starts. Markham is 1-1, with an ERA of 1.69 and a WHIP of 1.11, over 20.2 innings. In five appearances she has struck out 27 and walked 10. Opposing hitters have an average of .224 against her. Holland is 4-0 in six appearances, only two of which have been starts. In 18 innings, Holland has an ERA of 1.94, a WHIP of 1.44, and has recorded 11 strikeouts. Opposing hitters have an average of .270 against her. Coley has made five starts and appeared in nine games. She has a record of 2-1 over 23.2 innings with an ERA of 2.37 and a WHIP of 1.18. Hitters have an average of .274 against her and she has recorded 13 strikeouts. Coley also has a pair of saves.
 
The Generals are 1-0 all-time against the Tigers. They captured a 1-0 victory in 2023 at the Gulf Shores Invitational.

SCOUTING NO. 22 UNIVERSITY OF MOBILE
The Rams are 10-3 on the season and 3-3 in Southern States contests. They have lost two of their last three games.
 
Mobile is slashing .321/.403/.397 on the season. The Rams have scored 70 runs and hit one homerun. Miah Simmons leads the Rams with an average of .424. He has driven in seven runs and has an on-base percentage of .500. Carliegh Bowden comes into the GSI hitting .407 with an on-base percentage of .568.
 
Riley Smith and Avery Harrell has made 11 starts in the circle, while Katelynn Kempton has recorded a pair. Harrell has logged the most innings for the Rams with 34.2. She has an ERA of 1.62 and a record of 4-0 with one save. Smith is 2-1 across 30.2 innings with an ERA of 2.74. Kempton is 3-2 in seven appearances. She holds an ERA of 1.77. All three pitchers have WHIPs below 1.50. Harrell leads the trio with a WHIP of 0.87, while Smith comes in at 1.21 and Kempton at 1.48.
 
The Generals are 2-6 all-time against the University of Mobile. They won last year's contest, 2-1, at the Gulf Shores Invitational.

SCOUTING NO. 8 CENTRAL METHODIST
Central Methodist enters the week with a record of 9-3. They have won their last five games and are 5-3 when playing at a neutral site.
 
The Eagles are slashing .360/.456/.563 as a team. They have scored 112 runs and hit 11 homeruns. Maddie Holly leads the Eagles with an average of .571. She has driven in 14 and has one homerun. Elizabeth Palumbo is hitting at a clip of .463. She is slugging .732 with a pair of homeruns and five doubles. Palumbo has driven in 14 runs. Kaysie Jolley is shitting .333 with six extra base hits. The Eagles have just three stolen bases in four attempts on the year.
 
Veronica Dearth and Haley Cotter lead the Eagles in the circle. Dearth has tossed 24.2 innings and has a record of 3-1. She has thrown three complete games, one shutout, and has one save with an ERA of 3.12. Cotter also has a record of 3-1 over 23.2 innings. She has a 3.55 ERA and a .337 batting average against. Central Methodist has a team ERA of 4.03 and an average against of .447.
 
The Generals are 0-4 against the Eagles all-time.
