PREVIEW | Softball Hosts Texas College in Final Regular Season Weekend

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The No. 8 Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball team closes the regular season with a pair of doubleheaders against Texas College.

QUOTABLE
"Excited for the last weekend of softball before the conference tournament," said LSUA Head Coach Trent Partridge. "We have a Texas College team coming for doubleheaders that has been playing better as of late. Going to be a great weekend to see where we are heading into the postseason."
 
CONFERENCE STANDINGS
The Generals (39-5, 22-2 RRAC) are in second place behind Our Lady of the Lake University (41-7, 27-1 RRAC). Texas A&M-Texarkana (38-8, 22-4 RRAC) is in third and two games behind LSUA.
 
LAST TIME OUT
LSUA swept Louisiana Christian on Senior Day, 4-3 and 9-4.
 
Molly Sistrunk hit a walk-off single to drive in Jaycie O'Conner from second in the bottom of the seventh in game one. Haley Primrose (20-4) tossed a complete game in the circle. She allowed three runs on nine hits, struck out 10, and did not issue a free pass.
 
LSUA finished with 10 hits as a team. Kwakernaak and Sistrunk both recorded two. Kwakernaak drove in a pair of runs.
 
The Generals scored all nine runs in the second inning in game two. They tallied eight hits in the inning. Kilee Moody drove in a pair, as did Jillian Howell, Haley Fontenot, Kwakernaak, and Sistrunk each recorded one RBI.
 
LSUA has the fifth best average in NAIA coming into the weekend at .374. They are ranked third in slugging percentage (.580), 10th in on-base percentage (.432), second in extra base hits (158), and sixth in home runs (41).
 
SCOUTING TEXAS COLLEGE
The Lady Steers are 1-23 on the season and 1-21 in RRAC play. They have lost their last four games Their only win of the season came against Southwest (N.M.), 5-4.
 
As a team, Texas College is hitting .243 with an on-base and slugging percentage of .319. They have scored 58 runs and hit five home runs.
 
In the circle, the Lady Steers have an ERA of 8.03 and a WHIP of 2.60. Opposing teams are hitting .450 against the staff.
