PREVIEW | Softball Enters RRAC Championship as Top Seed, Faces Southwest (N.M.)

ALEXANDRIA, LA – The one-seeded Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball team takes on eight-seeded University of the Southwest (N.M.) in the Red River Athletic Conference Championship Quarterfinal on Thursday, April 30.

THE RRAC CHAMPIONSHIP
The RRAC Softball Championship is hosted by Louisiana Christian University in Pineville, Louisiana and runs Thursday, April 30 through Sunday, May 3.
 
LSUA enters as the top seed after finishing the conference slate with a record of 23-4. Our Lady of the Lake finished in second place with a 22-5 record while Texas A&M-Texarkana is third at 21-5. A&M-Victoria rounds out the top four with a 17-10 mark in conference play. A&M-San Antonio (17-10), Louisiana Christian (12-15), Xavier (La.) (12-15), and Southwest (N.M.) (5-22) make up the bottom four seeds.
 
Due to impending inclement weather, the tournament schedule has shifted. Thursday's games will be played at Champions Sportsplex in Lecompte, Louisiana. Live streams for Thursday's games will not be available. Live stats will be provided. There are two game slots on Thursday at 11:00 AM (Games 1-4) and 1:00 PM (Games 5-8).
 
There will be no games on Friday, May 1.
 
Saturday, games begin at 11:00 AM at Wildcat Park with the following games at 1:30 PM, 4:00 PM, and 6:30 PM. A live stream for each game will be provided by
 
On Sunday, May 2, Game 13 will be played at 1:00 PM before the first RRAC Championship Final game at 3:30 PM. The if necessary game is scheduled for 11:00 AM on Monday, May 4, at Wildcat Park.
 
THE GENERALS
LSUA has won their last seven games heading into the RRAC Softball Championship. They finished the regular season with a 31-14 record and a 23-4 mark in RRAC contests.
 
Kilee Moody and Lainee Bailey were named the RRAC Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively. Moody went 5-for-9 (.556) over last weekend's sweep of Louisiana Christian University. She drove in seven runs and hit two doubles. Moody recorded at least one RBI in every game but had a series-high four batted in in the Generals' game one 15-3 win. It is the first time she has been named the RRAC Player of the Week. Moody is hitting .390 on the season with four home runs and 36 runs batted in.
 
Bailey recorded one win in two starts against the Wildcats. She pitched seven total innings and allowed just three hits. Bailey posted a WHIP of 0.71 and an ERA of 0.00. She struck out 10 total hitters, nine coming across five innings in an 8-0 game two win. It is the third time Bailey has been named the RRAC Pitcher of the Week. In 26 appearances over the 2026 season, Bailey is 15-5 with an ERA of 1.69 and a WHIP of 1.17. She has recorded 100 strikeouts and is holding opposing hitters to an average of .191.
 
Kaetlyn Dunbar leads the Generals in average (.402), home runs (6), and runs batted in (47). Sophia Romero and Haley Fontenot have combined for 79 stolen bases. Romero has a one swipe lead on Fontenot at 40 stolen bases. The pair are five and six stolen bases off the LSUA single season record, respectively.
 
In the circle, LSUA has posted a team ERA of 3.07 with a WHIP of 1.44. The Generals' staff has registered 184 strikeouts and an opposing average against of .243. Rylee Guillot has recorded a 9-0 record with an ERA of 3.26 and a WHIP of 1.32 in her freshman season. Opposing hitters have an average of .225 against her.
 
SCOUTING SOUTHWEST (N.M.)
The Mustangs finished the regular season with a record of 7-30. They recorded a 5-22 mark in RRAC play.
 
Lexie Martinez leads the Mustangs' offense with an average of .359. She is one of four players hitting .300 or above. Karmyn Cantu (.343), Kilee Raulston (.330), and Hannah Campos (.315) round out the top hitters for Southwest. Campos has a team-high three home runs and 19 runs batted in. The Mustangs posted an average of .258 as a team with six home runs and 138 runs scored.
 
Cali Saldana and Jazmynn Hernandez handled the majority of innings in the circle for the Mustangs. Saldana posted a record of 2-11 over 21 appearances with an ERA of 7.45. Hernandez went 2-8 over 22 appearances with an ERA of 11.25. Alexis Belen made 11 appearances and recorded a record of 2-6 with an ERA of 6.02. The Mustangs have a team ERA of 8.37 and a WHIP of 2.32.
