ALEXANDRIA, LA – The Louisiana State University of Alexandria softball team collected 15 All-Red River Athletic Conference awards, including a near clean sweep of the superlatives.
Kaetlyn Dunbar was named the RRAC Player of the Year,
Lainee Bailey was named Co-Pitcher of the Year,
Sophia Romero earned Newcomer of the Year,
Kilee Moody was named the Defensive Player of the Year, and Trent Partridge was named Coach of the Year.
Dunbar, Bailey, Romero, Moody,
Haley Fontenot, and
Alyssa Soileau earned First Team All-RRAC selections.
Jillian Howell and
Rylee Guillot were named to the All-RRAC Second Team, while
Molly Sistrunk earned Honorable Mention All-RRAC.
Rylie Jeau Theriot was named to the Champions of Character Team.
"We're honored to be recognized by our conference," LSUA Head Coach Trent Partridge said. "This is a reflection of the work our players have put in every single day. These awards don't happen without consistency, toughness, and a commitment to something bigger than yourself. I'm proud of how our team has competed and represented our program. That said, this doesn't happen without the whole group. From our staff to every player in the dugout, everyone's had a hand in this. We've talked all year about raising the standard, and this team has lived that out. We're grateful for the recognition, but we know there's more in front of us. Our focus stays the same to prepare well, compete hard, and keep pushing to raise the flag."
Dunbar led the Generals in average (.402), home runs (6), runs batted in (47), lugging percentage (.682), and OPS (1.123) on the season. She leads the Red River Athletic Conference in home runs and runs batted in. It is the second time Dunbar has earned First Team All-RRAC. She was also named the Newcomer of the Year last season.
Bailey shares the Co-Pitcher of the Year honors with Anika Litterio of Our Lady of the Lake University. Bailey posted a 15-5 record across 25 appearances. She has thrown 111.0 innings and recorded an ERA of 1.70 with a WHIP of 1.16. She has struck out 99 hitters. Bailey is holding opposing hitters to an average of .191.
Moody has posted an average of .390 on the season with four home runs and 36 runs batted in. She has an on-base percentage of .444 and is slugging .632. Moody has made only one error across conference play, while recording 22 putouts and adding two outfield assists.
Romero is hitting .368 on the season with one home run and 23 runs batted in. she has scored a team-and-conference-high 45 runs. Romero also leads the Generals and the RRAC with 40 stolen bases.
Fontenot is a repeat First Team All-RRAC selection. It is the fourth time she has earned the honor. She is hitting .388 on the season with five home runs and 30 runs batted. She has scored 40 runs and stolen 39 bases, second in the conference.
Alyssa Soileau has posted an average of .321 on the year with 17 runs batted in and 14 runs scored. She has also stolen 12 bases. Howell is hitting .347 with five home runs and 22 runs batted in. She ahs slugged .602 with an on-base percentage of .420. Guillot is 9-0 across 24 appearances with an ERA of 3.26 over 73.0 innings. She has a WHIP of 1.32 and holds opponents to an average of .225. Sistrunk is hitting .319 on the season with 17 runs batted in and 14 runs scored. She has stolen four bases.
Partridge has skippered the Generals to a Red River Athletic Conference regular season title with a conference record of 23-4. LSUA has the second-highest average (.345) in the conference, the most home runs and extra base hits, the most runs scored, and the most stolen bases. The Generals have the third best team ERA in the conference and third most strikeouts as a staff.
The Generals take on the University of the Southwest (N.M.) in the RRAC Softball Championship Opening Round on Thursday, April 30, at 11:00 AM from Champions Sportsplex.
